The Secret City
03.08.2010
Happy Monday everyone! I'm sitting here downing my cup of noodles before we run to the airport to catch a plane to LA, dreaming of what was to come at my and Caulen's very unique Sunday activity: The Secret City.

The Secret City is an interactive game that challenges teams to answer riddles sent to you via text message, using the resources of the Braddock Carnegie Library, the world's first Carnegie Library located in historic Braddock, PA (you may have seen the mayor on The Daily Show last year).

As the town has slowly lost its population, the library has become an archive of the once-great mill town's glory.

We even got to explore the library's gorgeous music hall! I would have taken a panoramic picture, but it was so dark and eerie - which I'm sure was part of the game.
This organ had one of our clues!

Here I am reading one of our clues on the stage of the music hall - I felt like I was in a movie!

They had a funny little gym above music hall. We had to assemble a puzzle with these mats, and figure out a formula with the numbers written on it. So strange.

Finally, we ended up in an empty pool next to the main room of the library. What?
Well, actually, it turns out that the water was so bad during the steel age of the town, that they had to open a pool for bathing to help out the poorer residents.
Our clue was written along the walls of the pool!
Unfortunately, my phone managed to break the system after this clue, which means we had to quit early.
Blah! We didn't get to see the attic or the ending, which I heard was incredible.Oh well, next time!

This is what I wore to brunch beforehand. I had to lose the hat because it wouldn't stay on (although Anja Louise had a great solution that I'm going to try once I get home), and I had to switch to more comfortable shoes for the game - we were there for three and a half hours and we didn't even finish!

Caulen said I looked like I was going to the county fair!
hat - ophelie hats
cardigan - vintage
dress - tulle (such a cute print!)
tights - modcloth
shoes - pink studio
What did you do this weekend? Sorry there were so many pictures! I had even more that I wanted to share - it really was a breathtaking building.
What are your plans for the week? Who lives in LA and wants to go to the Nobunny or SoCow shoes with Sari and I?
